Elevator Pitch:
VerbatimIT provides fast, friendly, professional transcription service for its customers to achieve their
aims.
Narrative:
To be sure, "About Us" is about VerbatimIT, owned
and operated by Alan Kelly, so I will dispense with any pretense.
In high school, I became proficient
in Gregg Shorthand. While serving (1971-1973) in the US Navy as a Communications Technician (Radio) I became proficient in
Morse Code.
I founded Verbatim Instant Transcripts in 1992 with a name to suggest one action and one
objective. In 1995 VerbatimIT.com was registered on the internet, published, and protected as a brand name worldwide.
VerbatimIT's one action and objective remains fast, friendly and professional service.
In
its operation, VerbatimIT uses principles of language coding to implement a proprietary database within the Microsoft Word
AutoCorrect application.
By use of this system, an ordinary keyboard can serve as a lever to multiply
the keystrokes of the typist (keyboardist) to produce perfect English language transcription more easily than by typing every
letter of every word or phrase. Motivated keyboardists (typists) can produce exceedingly fast typing speeds and accuracies
without specialized software.
A transcriptionist with an open mind, ready to hear what is said, alert
and awake can produce a VerbatimIT transcript; anything less, and the result is likely to be a trashscript* draft at best,
needing costly proofreading or a redo.
The importance of hearing is applying an open mind to hear
what may be unexpected, and "getting it" is precisely what a VerbatimIT transcriptionist does with confidence.
The short and long story is that VerbatimIT does just that, the first time, without you needing to proofread.
When asked what I do for work, "I hear voices" or "How much time do you have?" are two
pat replies, but a longer explanation of the truth is that hearing and listening are both critical professional practices
applied to producing a VerbatimIT transcript every time.
Customers rely on Verbatim Instant Transcripts.
Voice recognition software exists to do this job, but some people believe in magic. Industry information
in 2010 report that despite years of implementing voice transcription software, and periodic improvements, software still
doesn't get it right.
Do you want to be a guinea pig geek who hands in a transcript ready for prime
time or someone who's work is done right the first time?
The motto "You said it. We VerbatimIT.
You read it... today, or sooner" aims to sum up the immediate intention without sacrificing... anything.
Both
customers and VerbatimIT typists benefit from this system. Typically, other benefits include increase typing speed and accuracy
ranging from 99.9-100%; reduced finger movement; reduced fatigue. This proprietary database is available for developers (with
all rights reserved) at a Google Sites page managed at (see below)
Diligent application of the AutoCorrect
library in the production transcription (high volume high accuracy) environment serves to decrease fatigue and increase accuracy.
Nothing tops human-performed linguistic transcription! Bots don't get it.
The system developed by
VerbatimIT is a CAT (Computer Aided Transcription) system whereby common phrases and words are entered by a smart abbreviation
to achieve 100% accuracy for pro audio media.
The entire database of terms, with a brief explanation
of the use is online. Alan Kelly is available for training, discussion and professional workshops and consultation for those
wishing to develop their own special databases.
